PLAY LEADERSHIP – What is it?
This training provides Play Leaders with the knowledge and skills they need to plan and coordinate safe, accessible, and fun play opportunities for children. It focuses on the benefits of play for children and youth, communities, and society as a whole. The training is supplemental to the HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) workshop. All participants must have previously been trained in PHCD. (see below)
Principles of Healthy Child Development – What is it?
Front-line leaders will gain the skills to make certain each child’s social, emotional, and cognitive needs are met. The session focuses on incorporating the HIGH FIVE® Principles into everyday programming. Leaders learn activities, gain knowledge, tips and resources to enhance their programs and their relationships with the participants and staff.
Who is it for?
Front line workers and anyone working with children aged 6 to 12 in a sport and recreation environment.
Why does it matter?
Leaders have a major impact on a child’s sport and recreation experience. This training is based on research and has been designed to equip leaders with activities, knowledge, tips, and resources to enhance their programs as well as their relationships with children and other staff members.
